The end of 2015 brought Nelton the opportunity to take part in a very interesting project. The company was involved in the construction of the new fish ladder for the power plant in Glattefelden, Switzerland.
The newly built fish pass has three entrances and a total length of 204 metres. As a steel construction, it is installed at the place of the existing fish ladder on the German-Swiss border.
Such solution is often applied to watercourses where the barriers created by human or nature (such as dams/waterfalls) block or impede fish migration. The fish ladder is then implemented in order to ensure free movement of fish between coastal waters and rivers so that they can access feeding grounds, breeding or nursery.
