We are proud to announce our continued involvement in the revolution of zero-emission maritime transport in Norway. Our long-term partner and pioneer in electric vessel construction, the Norwegian shipyard Fjellstrand AS, has secured a significant contract to build a new, fully electric passenger and car ferry for the operator GulenSkyss AS.
It is a great honor for us to continue our collaboration on such innovative projects, providing advanced engineering and design solutions that contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in the North Sea. Our design office is once again responsible for the technical documentation of this modern vessel.
The new ferry is a modern catamaran, approximately 55 meters long, designed with a focus on exceptionally low energy consumption and optimal efficiency. It will be capable of transporting up to 50 passenger cars, ensuring a comfortable and eco-friendly journey on the demanding Breistein – Valestrand route on the west coast of Norway.
The vessel will operate 100% on electric power, supplied by the onshore power grid. The ferry is scheduled to enter service on November 2027, as part of a 15-year contract for the route's operation.
We are proud that our designs, including the historic "Ampere", the world’s first battery-powered ferry, set the standards for the green transition in the maritime industry. This new contract confirms our position as a trusted engineering partner in the development of sustainable transport solutions.
